May 27 (Reuters) – Two people have been killed and nine people, including three teenagers, were injured in a shooting at Fairmount Park, Philadelphia on their anniversary, police said Tuesday.
All nine people injured in Monday night’s shooting are in stable condition. Both male and female adults were the victims of the death, officers told the media briefing.
Police say many adults were in the park.
“We have not recovered any weapons at this time,” the officer said. No arrests have been made.
“This is important. It’s an anniversary. We understand the importance of this event and will be updated on Tuesday.”
Traditionally observed on the last Monday of May, the anniversary is a federal holiday in the United States dedicated to celebrating and mourning servicemen who have died in the performance of their duties.
