Some victims of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein are scheduled to speak at a press conference at Capitol on Wednesday, September 3rd. The bipartisan event will be held by Thomas Massie, who predicts that Ro Khanna of D-California and Thomas Massie of R-Kentucky will be “explosive.”
The press conference features ten women, some of whom have never spoken publicly before, Khanna told NBC’s Meet the Press.
“They will tell their stories and they will clearly say to the American public that they want the Epstein Files to be released for a complete closure on the issue,” Kanna said on Sunday, August 31.
Congress releases 33,000 Epstein files amid DOJ’s cover-up claims
House surveillance has released 33,000 Epstein files, but Democrats say the Justice Department is withheld key documents.
Massie filed a discharge petition in the Epstein Files Transparency Act on September 2nd.
Kanna confirmed that all 212 Democrats would sign the petition, and Massey won the support of 12 Republicans. To date, there are 134 signatures, including Massie and three other Republicans.
The press conference returned after the workers’ holidays after the House Oversight Committee released the first tranche of documents relating to Epstein on its first day.
Massey told reporters outside the Capitol that the release was “only 1% of what we own, and 97% of that has already been released.”
House Oversight Committee ranking member D-California Robert Garcia said most of the releases by the committee have already been made public.
“What we need now is to fully comply with the subpoena,” Garcia said. “The Attorney General, who once said all the files were on the desk, will release all the files soon.”
Committee members met with some of Epstein’s victims on the same day as the release.
“What they revealed was not only the trauma of hundreds (probably thousands) of young women, but also the cover-up of the grand proportions involving our own government, which is rich, connected and our own government, and to the top, Mexican lawmakers told reporters.
