Overreactions in the NFL Week 5
Lorenzo Reyes from USAT breaks down the best games of NFL Week 5.
Seriously sports
- Philadelphia’s defeat to Denver left one NFL team with a perfect record for around seven hours.
- Conversely, only one team won’t win in 2025.
- Sunday featured one great game in terms of points scored and uniforms worn.
32 things we learned from the fifth week of the 2025 NFL season:
0. New York Jets rookie coach Aarong Len was embarrassing Aarong Len at home 37-22 on Sunday. With Kellen Moore’s New Orleans Saints off the mat against the New York Giants, Glenn is the only coach of the first year of the year of the year, and his team is now the only league-wide in a league that has not won.
1. Who is the first contender to win the Super Bowl 60 after defending champion Philadelphia Eagles lost their first game on Sunday? Given the number of questions around the league, it seems like an unusually large field at the moment, so let’s explore it.
2. Like the number of losses Philly has suffered over the past 365 days. The Eagles are clearly continuing to be a genuine championship threat, but there are also issues to fix, especially during attacks. WR AJ Brown had another quiet game (5 catches for 43 yards) on Sunday, and even RB Saquon Barkley undermined Philadelphia. On the day he rushed to 30 yards (only six carry), Berkley committed an illegal shift violation in the fourth quarter, nullifying his fourth conversion and forced his team to punt penultimate possession.
2a. Even if the icy “cold front” uniforms can’t get close to the championship ice at the end of the season, the bill will remain right there. The skies haven’t fallen in western New York, but the New England Patriots victory on Sunday night was a clear announcement that the Eastern AFC probably won’t be a walkover. For changes.
3. The Denver Broncos’ victory counts that beat the Eagles on Sunday for their first victory in Philadelphia since 1986. This is two impressive wins in six days for Denver.
4. Number of first-team All-Poss in 2024, including QB Lamar Jackson, for the Spiral Baltimore Ravens who were crushed 44-10 at home by the Houston Texans. 1-4, their Super Bowl aspirations in a serious crisis, the Ravens have reached a severely needed week since they faced the Rams in week six.
5. The 34-point loss coincided with the Ravens’ biggest Ravens in Baltimore. The differential also rivals the Texans’ most biased road victory in 24 seasons of history.
6. Red zone touchdown count – six attempts and below that, the Indianapolis Colts scored a 40-6 beatdown for the Las Vegas Raiders. While it still feels like a stretch to see Indy as a genuine championship competitor, the 4-1 team is increasingly taking over the look of the Titleist in the potential division.
7. In that strange turn of events, the Colts played most of the day without an injured K-Spencer Schrader, and were forced to try four consecutive two-point conversions with a punk. Meanwhile, the Raiders lost P AJ Cole and relegated K Daniel Carlson to his role.
8. The number of times the Texans scored in Baltimore coincided with the number of drives played by QB CJ Stroud. Following a 0-3 start, Houston has reappeared as a team that can win three consecutive division titles.
9. The match on the day also featured the best (splitting) uniforms of the day. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Seattle Seahawks with guns 38-35 in a perfect celebration of two organizations in the middle of their 50th NFL season. Was it a preview of the NFC Championship Game? Despite Seattle’s amazing defensive disappointment, it’s very well within the realm of possibilities.
10. No one of the Bucs has blown up. In the final minute of regulation, four victories occurred with the scores that were won in the game. This has never been done by a team before reaching their first four wins. Perennial NFC South Camp remains a resilient bunch that can beat you in a variety of ways.
11. What about the first round wideout matchup from former Ohio State in Seattle on Sunday? Bucs’ (née Bucks’) Emeka Egbuka and Seahawks’ Jaxon Smith-Njigba were combined with 15 catches, 295 yards, and TD.
12. Cowboys (who mainly wear white) and Jet (who mainly wear black) provided the worst game of the day, visually and stylistically (21 penalties).
13. How crazy have you scored so far? There have been 14 40 burgers posted this season, already the most common in five weeks since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, and the fifth week has not yet been performed.
14. He always ranked 14th in 173 regular season victories. That’s where Denver’s coach Sean Payton stands after Sunday’s victory, breaking down his relationship with his mentor, Hall of Fame Bill Purcells.
15. Payton is currently deadlocked with Jeff Fisher and Ravens manager John Harbaugh. John Harbaugh’s team doesn’t seem to be in step with the Payton Broncos anyway, not in the near future. Mike McCarthy is in 13th place – so far – alone with 174 wins.
16. How about Carolina Panthers RB Rico Dowl sprinted through a season-high 206 yards in the league-wide season, saving starter Tuba Hubbard on Sunday, injured in the team’s 27-24 Miami Dolphins loss?
17. The Cowboys either didn’t re-sign the Dowdle, which ran for nearly 1,100 yards last year, or are swaying that other teams don’t think even $3 million is worthy of offering him in 2025 (although he can celebrate that number by reaching a certain escalator). Heck, even Jerry Jones would be happy to pay for it.
18. A jersey number that could potentially retire one day for Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson. “Jettas” currently has 7,881 in his career, earning 123 yards in the Cleveland Browns’ defeat in London on Sunday. And he still plays 12 games for 50 years to overtake Randymos’ standard (8,375 yards).
19. The Los Angeles charger may have lost juice recently, but don’t blame veteran WR Keenan Allen. He appeared in his 159th career and won his 1,000th career catch. He’s eight games faster than Hall of Fame Marvin Harrison.
20. With the exception of both offensive tackles, Bolt appears to be returning to the title presenter.
twenty one. The Chargers’ defeat was courtesy of Washington’s commander, who has QB Jayden Daniels back in the lineup. However, the emergence of rookie RB Jacoley “Bill” Crosskey Merritt, who had a career career that spent Sunday’s career day, could be key to returning the commanders to the league’s elite trunks with 150 yards and two TDs from scrimmage.
twenty two. Will the Cincinnati Bengals just be trading for Giants QB3 Jameis Winston?
twenty three. But it’s not really surprising that Jake Browning-led stripes couldn’t handle the Detroit Lions. The Detroit Lions have an increasingly strong case of being replaced by Philadelphia above the league’s throne, with a four-game heater that erases memories of Green Bay’s first flop.
twenty four. Detroit won TDS from RBS Yummy Gibbs and David Montgomery on Sunday. Both won their 14th in the same game, scoring Super Bowl-era touchdowns for Emmitt Smith and Daryl Johnston in the most games of their RB teammates (1966).
twenty five. The Los Angeles Rams didn’t win Thursday, but WR Pukanakua caught 10 balls and gave 52 receptions by players 52 after the game. Nacua bypassed former teammate Cooper Kupp, who had 49 gloves at the same time in 2022.
26. These may be early stages that could be a historic year for NACUA, paced 177 balls. This would break the NFL singleseason record (149) established by Michael Thomas six years ago (16 games). The Nacua could also become the first ever 2,000-yard receiver. He is currently at a pace of 1,999 yards.
27. Dillon Gabriel has become the Cleveland Browns’ 41st QB1 since its revival in 1999, but has made his first debut in the NFL in an international series game. He was a solid Sunday in London, but he didn’t do enough to lead Cleveland past the Minnesota Vikings.
28. Meanwhile, the bikes have always improved to 5-0 in London… They’ve been on a 0-1 record in Dublin, washing away a two-week European vacation.
29. However, Minnesota made history in 25 seconds thanks to a TD catch that is beating WR Jordan Addison’s game. This victory was played internationally for the first time, featuring a decisive TD in the final minute of regulation or overtime.
30. Do NFL players, especially those running freely, learn to learn to secure the ball until they cross the goal line? The Arizona Cardinals RB3 Emari De Mercado really needed him to show up after causing James Connor and Trabenson to get injured, but it was the latest to throw the Rock out early.
31. Lastly, but not penalty time, we would like to congratulate Titans QB Comeward, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft. We’ll suspend.
32. Finally, congratulations to Saint QB Spencer Latler. We have taken note of multiple bagels he has been carrying in his personal NFL Win column for over a year. However, he won his first in his 11th professional start, with the Giants’ defeat on Sunday.
