Watch Dolly Parton set the record straight on health
Dolly Parton wanted her fans to know she’s okay after her sister asked for prayers for the country icon.
Dolly Parton has been forced to miss another event as she continues to battle health challenges.
The country music legend, 79, was inducted into the International Amusement Parks and Attractions Association Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Orlando, Florida on November 17th, but he was unable to attend.
Ms. Parton was inducted into the industry association’s Hall of Fame at the Dollywood theme park. In a video message shared on Dollywood’s Instagram page, Parton said she was disappointed to not be able to attend the event.
“I wish I could have been with you in person today, but you know I’m facing some health issues this fall. My doctor has told me to take some time off,” she said in the video. “I am truly disappointed that I will not be able to attend, but I wanted to express my gratitude for this wonderful honor.”
In September, Parton postponed a scheduled concert in Las Vegas, telling fans that she was “dealing with some health issues and doctors say I will need some surgeries.” Parton’s sister later asked fans to pray for Parton, raising concerns about the seriousness of these issues.
Parton told fans in an Instagram video on October 8 that she was “okay” but had “some issues” to deal with and would need “several treatments.” Parton said that after losing her husband earlier this year, she “didn’t take care of” herself and “let go of a lot of things that I should have taken care of.”
“When I faced a problem, the doctors said, ‘We need to deal with this, we need to deal with that,'” she said. “It wasn’t a big deal, but I had to cancel a few things to be closer to home.”
On November 16, Parton was unable to attend the 16th Academy Governors Awards to accept her honorary Oscar in person, but she sent a video message.
“Like this award tonight, I’m more blessed than I could have ever dreamed of,” she said in the video. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
