Madison Barone said he was not embarrassed about what happened as he was unable to hold back the food as he was disqualified in Nathan’s Hot Dog Meal Contest on Friday, July 4th.

Barone, who lives in Manville, New Jersey, made her debut in the 2025 contest. Shadowed by Joey Chestnut and women’s champion Miki Sudow, she managed to become famous for violating contest rules.
It started with her eating nine hot dogs and bread by the time the 10-minute contest was over. Afterwards, before the top five finishers were announced, she began to feel uncomfortable and found a trash can according to Barone.
“As soon as I got off the stage and everything came out, it didn’t even seem like I was sick,” she said. It just let go of my body more.
“And I was like, ‘Oh, man, everyone saw that. Now I’m disqualified.’ ”

“Mr. Barone experienced an impulse against swallowing after the contest, but before the presentation was over and the place was awarded,” Major League Operations Director Sam Barkley told USA Today Sports. “According to the major league dietary rules, you’ll become a DQ, contrary to swallowing things before the event ends, such as presentations and awards.”
Georgecia, who has been a contest announcer since 1991, said he has not been aware of such incidents that have been happening in Nathan ever since.
Barone, a wildcard contestant after finishing second in the qualifying round, said he hopes to compete the following year for Nathan.
“If that’s the case,” she said, “it would be the biggest comeback ever.”
