The Walt Disney Company announced on March 18 that Josh D’Amaro will succeed Bob Iger as its next CEO, ending years of succession speculation. D’Amaro, who has led Disney’s parks and experiences division since 2020, is the second park executive to hold the top role. Disney TV chief Dana Walden will assume the newly created role of president and chief creative officer. Mr. Iger will remain a senior advisor and a member of the Board of Directors until the end of the agreement.

“Josh D’Amaro has a rare combination of inspiring leadership, innovation, a keen eye for strategic growth opportunities and a deep passion for the Disney brand and its people, all of which make him the right person to lead as Disney’s next CEO,” James Gorman, chairman of the Walt Disney Company’s board of directors, said in a news release. “Through this exploration process, Josh demonstrated a strong vision for the company’s future and a deep understanding of the creative spirit that makes Disney unique in an ever-changing marketplace.”

This is a developing story.
