Daniel Day Lewis returns to the big screen
Daniel Day Lewis, who retired in 2017, is set to star in his first Ronan Day Lewis film Anemone, his first role since the Phantom Thread.

Daniel Day Lewis has suspended his retirement.
The award-winning actor will be captivating family drama this time alongside his son, Ronan Day Lewis.
The 68-year-old Day-Lewis is set to return to the big screen for the first time in eight years, following the 2017 romantic dramas “Phantom Stread” and “Anemone.” The film is directed and co-written by Ronan Day Lewis, the son of a legendary actor.
The film premiered the world this fall at the 2025 New York Film Festival, followed by a theatrical release in October.
The film is also set in Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley and Saffia Oakley Green.

Why did Daniel Day Lewis retire?
The winner of the three-time Best Actor Oscars suddenly retired in 2017.
“Daniel Day Lewis probably doesn’t work as an actor anymore,” his representative, Leslie Dart, said at the time. “He is extremely grateful for all of his collaborators and audiences over the years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representative will make further comments on the subject.”
Day-Lewis has yet to comment on his decision to return to acting.
Daniel Day Lewis’ new film release: When will the Anemone premiere?
The film is scheduled to be a hit in selected theatres on Friday, October 3rd. “Anemone” will be making a wider theatrical release on Friday, October 10th, according to Deadline.
