USA TODAY Pets reviews the BARK x Croc collaboration
If you like crocodiles, why not try matching with your dog? When you sign up for a new BARKBox subscription, you can now provide a pair for your pup.
Crocs is taking inspiration from iconic 2000s bops for its next drop.
The brand has teamed up with T-Pain to bring to life the “fur boots” from Flo Rida’s popular 2008 song “Low,” which featured T-Pain.
The song, which was featured on the soundtrack for the 2008 film Step Up 2: The Streets, is famous for its lyrics: “Shouty was wearing apple-bottomed jeans, furry boots, and the whole club was looking at her.”
Described by Crocs as “one of Crocs’ wildest fan-inspired creations to date,” the Classic Unfaggetable Leopard Knee-High Boot is “Crocs’ tallest silhouette ever,” measuring 35.4 inches, and “wrapped in luxurious vegan leopard-print fur and adorned with 17 Jibbitz charms, chains, and ornaments that embody self-expression,” according to a press release.
Crocs says the limited edition statement pieces “introduce new design elements such as backstraps, clips and metal loop rivets, giving fans new opportunities for personalization.”
boots are not cheap
The Classic Unfur Gettable Leopard Knee-High Boots will be released on Crocs Day, October 23rd, and will be “along with an exclusive collection of faux fur-trimmed footwear that blends eye-catching style with everyday comfort,” the brand said.
According to Crocs, the boots retail for $159.99 and are available worldwide on Crocs.com and in-store only at Crocs SoHo store in New York City.
Boots are part of “croktobar”
The boots are being released as part of the brand’s “unforgettable month-long celebration of communities that inspire creativity.”
“Fan First Celebration” begins Oct. 8 and will give fans “what they can expect this season,” Crocs said, including “more fan-driven content (and) more surprise product giveaways.”
“Crocs are a love letter to our fans,” Crocs chief marketing officer Carly Gomez said in a statement. “They have always been at the heart of our brand, and this year we celebrate their creativity, individuality and boldness in exactly the way they dreamed of.”
Fans can also look forward to activations in select Crocs Stores, limited-edition in-game Crocs gear, and a 24/7 monthly TikTok Shop livestream aimed at fusing commerce, content and community to deliver limited-time Croctober giveaways, the brand said.
