Warehouse Club plans to open new locations in March and April, bringing Costco’s famous $1.50 hot dogs and rotisserie chicken to even more U.S. cities.
The company said new stores will open in Texas, Utah and California, with another in Manitoba, Canada. Costco, a membership-based wholesale store, opened its first store in 1976 as Price Club. The location was inside a renovated airplane hangar in San Diego.
Costco said Price Club changed from a small store to a warehouse as “growth in the warehouse club industry took off.” Costco’s first warehouse store opened in Seattle in 1983.
Costco said in its latest earnings report in early February that it has 924 warehouses, including 634 in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, as well as warehouses in Mexico and Japan.
Where will Costco open new stores?
Costco lists six stores scheduled to open in March and April on its “Coming Soon” page.
- Liberty Hill, Texas (opens March 11)
- Forney, Texas (opens March 12)
- St. George, Utah (opens March 13)
- Northern Visalia, California (TBD)
- New Braunfels, Texas (TBD)
- Winnipeg, Manitoba (TBD)
The new locations come after a busy 2025 in which the company opened new locations in The Villages, Florida, Richland, Washington, and North Guadalajara, Mexico, among others.
