Connor Story made his “SNL” hosting debut, so of course his “Rivals” co-star Hudson Williams showed up to cheer him on.

Things are “heating up” on “Saturday Night Live.”
“Heated Rivals” star Connor Story made his “SNL” hosting debut on the sketch show’s Feb. 28 episode, but he wasn’t alone. Hudson Williams, co-star of the hit hockey romance series, was also in the building.
Williams appeared early in the episode in a skit about a couple bickering after a surprise marriage proposal in front of an ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center, but the man was distracted by a group of happy skaters behind him. Williams appeared in the sketch on skates and embraced Story, drawing cheers from the “SNL” studio audience. “Sorry I’m late, but I have a serious question: Who’s ready to skate for real?” Williams asked.
Williams then helped Story introduce musical guests Mumford & Sons, and joined Story on stage as the host bid goodnight at the end of the episode.
Williams and Story star in “Heated Rivals” as two hockey players who, despite being sports rivals, become embroiled in a secret and heated relationship. The show has become a sensation since debuting on HBO Max last year, and Williams and Story’s fame has skyrocketed.
In his monologue, Story joked that “some people may have literally seen everything about me” in “Heat Rivalry,” which is full of graphic sex scenes.
“This show taught a lot of people about hockey and taught a lot of straight women that their sexuality is actually gay,” he said.
On a more serious note, Story said he had “only been a professional actor for about six months” and had worked as a waiter before appearing on Rivals. He said, “I’ve been preparing for this my whole life, ever since I was 12 years old when I fell in love with acting.”
“I really didn’t know if something like this was going to happen to me. When I got the call that I was going to be on SNL, I honestly cried,” he said.
The Feb. 28 episode marked Story’s SNL hosting debut. The actor’s busy weekend continues until March 1, when he will be presenting at the Actor Awards in Los Angeles.
