The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced on October 20 that it has recalled three popular Coca-Cola soda products due to possible metal contamination.

The FDA announced that the recall of certain Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Coca-Cola, and Sprite cans has been classified as a Class II recall. The federal agency’s risk classification states that the recalled products may cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects,” but serious adverse health effects are “unlikely.”

The recall, initiated by bottler Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages on October 3, involves more than 4,000 cans of soda distributed in Texas. The FDA has not provided guidance on what to do with the recalled products, and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages did not issue a news release regarding the recall.

USA TODAY reached out to The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages for comment on October 22, but did not immediately receive a response.
