Popular grocery store chain Whole Foods has more than 535 locations in the US, Canada and the UK, and continues to grow its footprint in 2025.
According to the company’s website, it has opened six new locations around the world so far this year, with five of them in the US, so the company plans to open three more stores in the US later this month.
Founded in 1980, the Austin-based grocery chain is also advertised in the United States as the “world’s leading natural and organic food retailer” and the first “certified organic national grocery store.”
The company’s website states that all foods sold in stores must meet the company’s quality standards that prohibit hydrogenated fats, high fructose corn syrup, and “more than 300 flavors, colors, sweeteners and other ingredients commonly found in foods. Beauty and body care products sold in Whole Foods stores must also contain phthalates, parabens and microbeads.

Where did the new Whole Foods Store open in 2025?
According to the company’s website, it has opened six new stores around the world so far, five of which are in the US.
- Las Vegas, Nevada: Opens on May 15th
- New York City (East Village): Opens on May 14th. Whole Foods Market Daily Shop
- London, UK: Opens on March 25th
- Doylestown, Pennsylvania: Opens on March 13th
- Bocaraton, Florida: Opened on February 11th
- Falls Church, Virginia: Opened on February 7th
In September 2024, the company announced it was opening its first small format store called Whole Foods Market Daily Shop in New York City’s Lennox Hill area.
The company said the small stores are “designed to bring fresh, high quality ingredients to customers, convenient customers that suit the fast-paced urban lifestyle.” The restaurant offers weekly essentials and meals, making it about a quarter to half the size of the average Whole Foods store.
The second location of the small format store opened at Stietown Development in East Village on May 14th, and a third location set to open at Hell’s Kitchen on June 4th.
The company also announced in March 2025 that it opened its first UK location in London’s Chelsea district since 2014.
