Chapel Lawn delivers a powerful message of acceptance at the Resonator Awards
Chapel Lawn won the Harmonizer Award at the Resonator Awards in Los Angeles, where they shared a message about giving and supporting those in need.
Chapel Lawn has a good laugh at people taking her Grammys outfits seriously.
“I’m giggling because I don’t even think this is an outrageous outfit. In fact, it looks so amazing and weird,” she wrote in a Feb. 2 Instagram post. “I encourage you to exercise your free will. It’s really fun and silly :D”
For the Feb. 1 awards ceremony, the 27-year-old “Pink Pony Club” singer wore a sheer burgundy custom Mugler dress secured with nipple rings. Roan was naked except for her underwear and some temporary tattoos dotting her torso and back. Her signature red curls cascaded down to her waist.
Afterwards, she gave an interview wearing a matching cloak that had flown onto the train behind her.
Although she was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year for “The Subway,” she was excluded from this year’s Recording Academy voters.
In 2025, she earned the coveted title of Best New Artist, her first Grammy nomination. She received six nominations that year and was one of only two musicians to receive nominations in all four major Grammy categories.
The Missouri native, a self-proclaimed “Princess of the Midwest,” credits her personal and musical growth to the LGBTQ+-friendly neighborhood of West Hollywood, Calif., and is used to bringing drama to high-profile events with her signature campy fashion.
Fashion historian and author Brian Centrone previously told USA TODAY that the “no shirt” look reflects broader social and political issues around women’s rights, especially since exposing the breasts “has always been taboo and forbidden.”
“One of the ways women can resist these situations is by showing them how they can take control of their bodies,” Centron said. “That’s what fashion can do.”
