Capybara became “it” animal during the holidays
From socks to wooden ornaments, capybara products dominate social feed.
A new cafe, featuring unique experiences with beloved animals taking over social media, has arrived in Georgia this June, with a full launch scheduled for August 2025.
Capyfriends Cafe, a unique venture and partnership between Nacoochee Adventures and North Georgia Wildlife & Safari Park, will be offering personal encounters with capybaras and other friendly animals in Helen, Georgia this summer.
What is capybara?
Capybara is the largest rodent in the world. They live in South America and are associated with guinea pigs and rock caves, but with animals that are farther away from chinchillas and agutis.
What is Capyfriends Cafe?
The cafe, recently announced in an Instagram post, offers visitors the opportunity to interact intimately with these calm creatures. And yes, selfies are encouraged.
Online bookings are currently open in June, with private experience bookings available.
Are there any other Capybara Cafés?
The only other experience is associated with Noah’s Ark Sanctuary, a nonprofit dedicated to rescue the rescue and rehabilitation of animals in need at Capybara Café in St. Augustine, Florida.
The business describes its mission as “encouraging, educating and nurture a greater sense of stewardship for all living things.”
