President Donald Trump’s efforts to roll back the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) program and make changes to the already existing federal holidays have ended slavery in the United States as concerns grow about the future of June.
Jeremy Paul, a law professor at Northeastern University’s Faculty of Law, said people shouldn’t be worried. On his own, the president has no authority to attack in June as a federal holiday.

It is the Victory Day of World War I on November 11th (renamed Veterans’ Day) and the Victory Day of World War II on May 8th. However, May 8th is not a federal public holiday. However, the Trump declaration was not set as an official federal holiday on May 8th. This means that federal workers don’t take time off. Trump has just declared his 2025 holiday celebration.
Trump has also expressed interest in bringing home Columbus Day, a federal holiday celebrated on the second Monday of October. Many states are beginning to recognize holidays as Indigenous Days. In 2021, Biden signed a declaration recognizing Columbus Day as Indigenous People’s Day. However, this was a declaration and not a law, so it ended after the 2021 holiday.
