Buffalo Sabers forward Josh Norris continues to have bad luck with injuries.
He suffered his second major injury since being acquired at the 2025 NHL trade deadline, and coach Lindy Ruff told reporters he will be out for a “significant amount of time.”
“We don’t know what that amount is. He’s still evaluating it,” Ruff said Saturday, Oct. 11.
Norris will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season after injuring his oblique in the third game after being acquired from the Ottawa Senators in a trade for Dylan Cozens.
This season, he suffered an upper-body injury in the Sabres’ season opener loss to the New York Rangers. He was injured during a faceoff and was slow to return to the bench.
Coach Ruff said this season’s injuries are different than last season. Norris also had shoulder issues early in his NHL career.
Another injury with the Sabers limited him to four games. He had a goal and an assist last season in Buffalo, but was scoreless in his only game this season.
He had 90 goals and 156 points in 236 career games over five seasons with the Senators before being traded.
The Sabers are trying to end a 14-year playoff drought but are battling other injuries, including goaltender Ukko-Pekka Lukonen.
