Budweiser is kicking off its year-long 150th anniversary celebration with sweepstakes and a special limited-time 12-pack containing collectible cans inspired by designs from past decades.
Budweiser is leading the way in celebrating its 150th anniversary with a commemorative 12-pack.
The classic beer brand has launched a limited edition Heritage Can Series 12-pack, available now. Each 12-pack includes a special can featuring one of four unique collectible can designs inspired by cans sold in the 1950s, 1980s, or 1990s, as well as one specially designed for 2026. Each is engraved with the 150th anniversary logo that reads “Made of America – For 150 Years.”
The 12-pack will rotate throughout the year and include one of four heritage can designs. This is a ploy to win over Budweiser fans who want to collect all four 150th Anniversary cans throughout the year.
The 12-pack is “designed to take fans on a visual journey through the brand’s 150-year history and responds to consumer calls for Budweiser to bring back its vintage can design,” the company said in a news release.
“Budweiser has been a part of American history since 1876. Our new Heritage Can Series invites fans to collect a piece of our history and celebrate 150 years of the iconic American classic lager with us,” Todd Allen, Anheuser-Busch’s senior vice president of Budweiser Marketing, said in a statement to USA TODAY. “These limited edition cans get us ready for an exciting year ahead.”
Budweiser, a perennial favorite in USA TODAY’s Ad Meter’s Super Bowl commercial ratings, promises that this year’s big game TV spot will “celebrate the brand’s 150th anniversary and America’s 250th anniversary…(and) Budweiser will deliver a strong, heartfelt national commercial that showcases how its beer is not just made in America, but made in America.”
In what year was Budweiser born?
Budweiser, an American-style lager, was created in 1876 by Adolphus Busch and St. Louis bottler Carl Conrad at the brewery then known as E. Anheuser & Company, after Eberhard Anheuser, who in 1860 bought what was previously known as the Bavarian Brewery.
Busch married Anheuser’s daughter Lily and joined the business, which was later renamed Anheuser-Busch.
