Brooklyn Peltz Beckham has broken her silence on rumors of family feud in a scathing social media post, claiming her famous parents tried to ruin her marriage to Nicola Peltz Beckham.
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, has broken his silence about his relationship with his parents.
“I don’t want to reconcile with my family,” the 26-year-old wrote in a series of lengthy Instagram Stories on Monday, January 19. “I have been silent for years and have made every effort to keep these matters private,” he continued, adding, “As my parents and their team continued to appear in front of the press, I had no choice but to speak with my own voice and tell the truth about only some of the lies that were reported.”
“I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” Beckham added, alluding to speculation that he’s estranged from his family because of his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham.
“My parents have been constantly trying to break up my relationship since before our wedding, and they have not stopped,” Brooklyn said in a statement Monday.
USA TODAY has reached out to Victoria and David Beckham’s representatives for comment.
Brooklyn and Nicola married in 2022 and renewed their vows in August 2025. Brooklyn’s parents attended the wedding, but not the vow renewal.
Brooklyn Beckham breaks his silence about his wedding drama with wife Nicola and mother Victoria
Around the time of his wedding, reports surfaced that Brooklyn’s relationship with his soon-to-be wife and the groom’s mother was strained.
Now, Brooklyn has addressed this rumor. “Mum canceled the production of Nicola’s dress at the 11th hour, even though she was so looking forward to Nicola wearing her design, leaving Nicola scrambling to find a new dress,” he wrote.
Brooklyn, who also took Peltz’s name when she married him, said: “In the weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and tried to bribe me to take away the rights to my name, which meant that I, my wife, and my future children would not be entitled to it.” My parents were adamant about signing it before my wedding, because then the contract would start. My resistance affected my payday, and they have never treated me the same way since then.
“While planning the wedding, my mother even called me a ‘bad person’. Nicola and I decided to invite our nanny, Sandra, and Nicola’s Nauni to the table, as neither of us had husbands,” he wrote. “Both of our parents had their own tables, adjacent to ours as well.”
Brooklyn Beckham says two brothers were ‘sent to attack me on social media’
Brooklyn also wrote that on the eve of his big day, his family told him that his soon-to-be-born wife was “not biological” and “not part of the family.”
From that moment on, he said, “I began to stand up for myself along with my family. I was subjected to constant attacks in public and private from my parents, which were sent to the press at their behest.” He added, “Even my brothers, Romeo and Cruz Beckham, were sent to attack me on social media and ended up blocking me out of nowhere this summer.”
In December, 20-year-old Cruz took to Instagram to clear the air about the Daily Mail report, claiming that her brother Brooklyn had been blocked by her parents.
The tabloid’s headline read: “David Beckham and Victoria Beckham have unfollowed their estranged son Brooklyn, 26, after it was revealed he will be spending Christmas with his wife Nicole Peltz’s billionaire parents amid family rift.”
But Cruz posted that that was “not true” and that Brooklyn was the one who blocked her parents, including her siblings.
Brooklyn Beckham says his mother ‘hijacked’ his first wedding dance with wife Nicola
Brooklyn also said on Instagram that Victoria “hijacked” her first dance with Nicola on their wedding day.
His first dance was “planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” he said, adding, “Marc Anthony called me up on stage in front of 500 wedding guests. The schedule was to have a romantic dance with my wife, but instead I waited for my mom to dance with me.”
“She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone,” he said. “I have never felt so uncomfortable and humiliated in my entire life.”
Therefore, “we wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that would bring joy and happiness, rather than anxiety and shame.”
Brooklyn says his wife Nicola has been ‘consistently looked down upon by her family’
Beckham’s eldest son said: “No matter how hard we try to be together, my wife has consistently been treated with contempt by the rest of the family.” “My mother has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.”
In recent months, Brooklyn has attended public events in Los Angeles and New York with his wife Nicola, but has not been seen with his family.
According to Getty Images, Brooklyn was last seen with his father and brother on February 25, 2024, during a soccer game between Inter Miami and Los Angeles Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Prior to that, on February 3, 2024, Nicola was spotted with her brother and mother Victoria attending the premiere of the movie Lola in Los Angeles, California.
Nicola appeared in a drama.
Brooklyn added that despite his family’s actions, he and his wife “traveled to London for my father’s birthday and waited in his hotel room for a week trying to plan some quality time with my father, only to be rejected for a week.”
“He rejected everything we tried, except for a big birthday party with 100 guests and cameras on every corner,” Brooklyn continued. “When he finally agreed to meet me, it was on the condition that he didn’t invite Nicola. It was a slap in the face. Then when my family traveled to LA, they refused to see me at all.”
Brooklyn Beckham slams David and Victoria Beckham for ‘controlled press coverage’
“Throughout my life, my parents have controlled the press about our family,” Brooklyn wrote, calling her parents’ social media posts and family events “performative,” and adding, “False relationships have been entrenched in my life.”
He concluded: “The story of my wife controlling me is completely backwards,” and he wrote that he “has been controlled by my parents most of my life.”
Since distancing herself from them, Brooklyn said, “For the first time in my life, that anxiety has gone away. Every morning I wake up and feel peace and relief, grateful for the life I’ve chosen.”
“My wife and I don’t want our lives to be shaped by images, press and manipulation,” he said. “All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for ourselves and our future families.”
