Brooklyn Peltz Beckham vents his family’s frustrations on Instagram
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, has broken his silence on rumors of family feud with a scathing post on Instagram.
Details of Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham’s wedding day have been revealed.
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham releases a lengthy statement delving into the strained relationship between his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, as Beckham’s eldest son opens up about his 2022 wedding and the family drama that took place before and after it.
Rumors and anonymous media reports about the couple’s relationship have been circulating since their marriage, and the couple have only been spotted with their families a few times since then.
In a series of lengthy Instagram Stories on Monday, January 19, the 26-year-old addressed rumors that circulated in May that tensions between the 31-year-old wife and her 51-year-old mother escalated after the fashion designer didn’t make his wife’s dress for their wedding.
When did Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz get married?
The couple, who got engaged in 2020, had a Jewish ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida, on April 9, 2022, at her father Nelson Peltz’s private estate as part of a three-day celebration attended by the Beckham family.
Nicola Peltz Beckham is the daughter of Mr. Peltz, 83, a businessman and billionaire investor in PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble and Kraft, and former model Claudia Hefner, 70. Brooklyn Beckham is the eldest child of soccer player David Beckham, 50, and Spice Girls singer and designer Victoria Beckham, 51.
Nicola Peltz Beckham’s wedding dress: what happened?
Even before the wedding, rumors abounded that Nicola Peltz Beckham would not wear Victoria Beckham’s designs to the ceremony.
Nicola wore a custom white Valentino dress, white lace gloves and a royal-length lace veil for her big day. According to a Vogue article at the time, the wedding dress was “the culmination of a year-long conversation” with the fashion house’s creative director at the time, Pierpaolo Piccioli, which included two visits to Valentino’s headquarters in Rome and two fittings in the United States. Peltz Beckham told the magazine that choosing the Valentino dress was “a no-brainer”.
Months later, Nicola insisted in an interview with the Sunday Times that there was no “feud” between the Beckhams, but blamed the rumors on her not wearing Victoria Beckham’s designs. The actress said Victoria’s “atelier wasn’t able to make the dress in time.”
“But the truth is, I really wanted to wear it and I thought it was so beautiful that my mom in Brooklyn made it for me,” she said at the time.
But Brooklyn’s latest comments claim Victoria canceled her date with Nicola at the last minute.
“Mum canceled the production of Nicola’s dress at the 11th hour, even though she was so looking forward to Nicola wearing her design, leaving Nicola scrambling to find a new dress,” he wrote.
USA TODAY has reached out to Victoria and David Beckham’s representatives for comment.
Celebrities who attended Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s wedding
According to Vogue, among the stars in attendance was Eva Longoria, who congratulated the newlyweds on an Instagram post with the caption, “Celebrating love.”
Serena Williams, Gordon Ramsay and model Isabella Glatman each shared photos on Instagram that matched paparazzi shots of them attending the event.
Venus Williams and Spice Girls Mel B and Mel C also celebrated their newlyweds.
After the celebrations, the former Spice Girl congratulated the couple on Instagram, writing: “Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Beckham X and welcome to the family.”
David Beckham shared a photo of the bride and groom from a Vogue spread with the caption: “Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Beckham. Welcome to the family @nicolaannepeltz. I love you.”
Brooklyn Beckham’s first wedding dance at the center of Beckham family feud
Brooklyn added that the day was “embarrassing” because Victoria Beckham “hijacked” his first dance with his wife.
Their first dance was “planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” he said. However, he claimed, “In front of 500 wedding guests,[singer]Marc Anthony called me on stage. The schedule was for a romantic dance with my wife, but instead he waited for my mother to dance with me.”
A month after the wedding, People magazine published a report from an anonymous source claiming that Nicola felt her big day was “ruined” after family friend Anthony called Victoria to dance with Brooklyn, calling her “the most beautiful woman in the room tonight” and leaving the room “in absolute shock” at that moment. An anonymous source said Nicola ran from the room crying. Victoria and David Beckham did not respond to requests for comment from the outlet at the time.
Wedding day drama: Seating and financial questions
Brooklyn said there were other family issues surrounding the couple’s big day, including the couple’s anger over having their grandmother sit at the wedding table.
“While planning the wedding, my mother even called me a ‘bad person’. Nicola and I decided to invite our nanny, Sandra, and Nicola’s Nauni to the table, as neither of us had husbands,” he wrote. “Both of our parents had their own tables, adjacent to ours as well.”
But Brooklyn, who took Peltz’s name when they married, said tensions actually came to a head over allegations that her parents had tried to extort her financially.
“In the weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and bribed me into signing a revocation of the rights to my name, which would affect me, my wife, and our future children,” he added. “They were adamant that I sign before the wedding date, so the contract would start. Even though my resistance affected my payday, they have never treated me the same way since.”
Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz renew their vows
Victoria and David Beckham were notably absent from the couple’s vow renewal in August, but Brooklyn Peltz Beckham now says it was “to create new memories on our wedding day that brought joy and happiness, not anxiety and shame.”
