LONDON – British police say they are planning “nearly every foreseeable unforeseen situation” ahead of President Donald Trump’s visit to the state.
Trump will arrive in England on September 16th for his unprecedented visit to the second state. The next day he will be treated to the customary displays of the Royal Pageantry at Windsor Castle, including carriage tours and lavish banquets.
“This is a critical police and security operation, as would be expected from the US President’s national visit,” Assistant Constable Christian Bunt, Assistant Officer of the Thames Valley Police, told reporters.
The Trump Visiting Royal takes place at Windsor Castle, west of London, the world’s oldest and largest residential castle. It was the home of the family of British monarchs for almost a thousand years.
British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer will host Trump on September 18th at Checker’s country residence.
The famous trip comes after the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a stubborn ally of Trump, and then fostered fears of a surge in political violence in the United States.
Asked whether Kirk’s assassination had affected police activities for the visit, Bunt said the plans were constantly under review.
“I am very pleased with the plan to operate very comprehensive policing and security.
Bunt added that visits to Windsor and Checker would be for private reasons and would limit the president’s exposure to the public.
