Three years after a legal dispute over a French winery, Brad Pitt’s team is focused on releasing ex-wife Angelina Jolie’s private communications.

In an Oct. 29 Los Angeles Superior Court filing obtained by USA TODAY on Nov. 4, the 61-year-old actor’s attorney submitted a summary of evidence supporting Jolie’s email claims regarding the legal strategy surrounding the 2021 sale of a stake in Chateau Miraval Winery.

The 286-page application includes redacted and unredacted communications between Jolie and her attorney dating back to 2008, which Jolie recently submitted to the court.

However, the “F1” star claimed in an Oct. 27 letter that Jolie’s lawyer was withholding contact with “non-lawyers” to discuss legal strategy, US Weekly and People reported.

“Ms. Pitt’s prepared response does not address our allegations and continues to rely on speculation and conjecture, all for the purpose of violating her privileged communications with her attorneys,” Jolie’s attorney Paul Murphy said in a statement to USA TODAY on Nov. 4.

“This is yet another confirmation that this lawsuit represents a long-standing effort by Mr. Pitt to harass and control Angelina. We look forward to future hearings.”

In an earlier legal filing, Jolie objected to her ex-girlfriend’s request for contact, noting that communications with Jolie’s business manager and “aides” who contacted her legal team on Jolie’s behalf were “intended to be confidential.” Jolie said the people Pitt’s lawyers referred to as “image consultants” were employees employed by Pitt.

A hearing date is scheduled for Dec. 17, according to Oct. 28 court documents. The trial on Pitt’s claims for Jolie’s breach of contract is scheduled to begin on February 1, 2027, more than five years after Pitt filed the lawsuit in February 2022.

Emails containing support from Angelina Jolie’s brother Jamie revealed in court documents

Some of Jolie’s messages, which Pitt also included in his list of evidence, deviated to the point of personal content.

In a May 2021 email, partially redacted due to attorney-client privilege, Ms. Jolie messaged her business manager about stress related to business and personal transactions.

“You need to get rid of all the stress. Honestly, I feel like I’m sick from worrying. So I want to talk about better support. And also not staying in a relationship that makes you look stressed,” the 50-year-old “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” actress wrote.

She also appeared to be referring to her 52-year-old brother James Haven Voight, saying, “Anyone in a financial situation like Jamie, where you can give and give and not even get any gratitude, is just wrong.”

Jolie apparently discussed building up funds, saying: “I don’t have to worry that whatever happens, I’m always going to be responsible every year. And he always gets paid without advice, so he doesn’t have to save.”
