Over 5,000 baby high chairs sold exclusively on Amazon were recalled for the risk of serious injuries and fatal falls and trapping.
Boilo Baby, a children’s high chair manufacturer, issued a recall on May 15 for a high chair sold on Amazon because it didn’t meet the safety requirements of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and was dangerous to babies.
“The seat cushions at Boyro Baby Children’s High Charge do not meet CPSC safety requirements for children’s products,” the brand said in its advisory. “High chairs pose a fatal fall risk for babies because the restraint system is not attached to the product and the lock or latch can break down.”
The seat and tray openings are large enough to allow children to get stuck, which can also be a risk of trapping tall chairs.
No injuries were reported, but the company urged consumers to immediately stop using the high chair and follow instructions for disassembly and destruction, according to the advisor.
Which products are included in the recall?
According to the advisory, a Boyro Baby brand 4-in-1 high chair, removable seat cushions in green, grey and pink, removable trays, footrests and storage space were included in the recall.
The products that convert from high chairs to low chairs, rocking chairs and slides were sold on Amazon.com from October 2023 to November 2024 and ranging between $70 and $90. Approximately 5,400 units of the product were included in the recall.
What should I do if I purchase an affected product?
Those who purchased the affected Highchairs should immediately stop using it, contact Boyro Baby about how to disassemble it and get a full refund.
The company said the instructions include details on how to reduce the restraint system and seat cushions. Boyro Baby will issue a refund when the consumer takes the necessary action and emails a photo of the disassembled and destroyed fragments of the high chair to boybaby@outlook.com.
Customers can visit the Boyro Baby website or send an email to the company at boybaby@outlook.com for more information and information on how to destroy affected products.
