For four consecutive weeks, hotel workers in Boston left their jobs to attack for better working conditions.
The Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapters, national labor unions representing hotel workers, announced the start of the strike in the first week of September.
There have been three waves of hotel workers strikes in Boston since September 1, when four hotel workers took them to the Pickett Line over Labor Day weekend. Since then, additional workers have performed a limited three-day strike at four more Boston hotels, bringing a total of eight, showing a second labor action.
As of October 1, the indefinite stage of the strike, which began on September 25th, currently includes four hotels.

The hotels currently being affected by the ongoing suspension are:
- Omni Parker House
- Omni Boston Hotels in Seaport
- Hilton Boston Logan Airport
- Hilton Boston Park Plaza
Why are workers at Boston hotels on strike?

“I work full time here, and sometimes I work overtime. But I still had to get a second job so I could pay my mortgage and other monthly bills,” Kaba Kamara, a housekeeper attendant at Omni Boston Seaport Hotel, said in a statement.
“The issue of strikes in all cities remains open and negotiations are ongoing,” Unite said in a statement.
In a statement, Omni said hotels in Boston that are involved in the strike are still open and services will not be suspended.
“With respect for all parties, Omni will not comment on the status of the negotiations, except that he continues to commit to negotiate in good faith to reach an agreement that agrees with all parties,” the statement said.
