The most expensive homes in the United States are officially on the market, and anyone who buys a whopping $300 million can cost them.
The 74.1 acre property, over 27,000 square feet, is located at 161 Stillwater Drive in Aspen, Colorado, and includes 18 bedrooms, 20 full bathrooms and four partial bathrooms, according to Sotheby’s International Realty listings.
According to the Aspen Times, the property was built in 1994. According to the Aspen Times, the house was built by California billionaires Stewart and Linda Lesnick.
According to Pitkin County property records reviewed by USA Today, great companies are listed as residential owners.
Sotheby’s lists Little Lake Lodge as the most expensive home in the United States, with property in Long Lake, New York at a price tag of $255 million.

According to the home list, it “along with public lands, but downtown Aspen is a few miles away.” The residence is also located by a “pristine, private lake” that “also situated in thoughtfully chosen native landscaping and preserved wild plants.”

Mandy Welgos, the Sotheby’s International Realty Broker Associate who is the listing agent for the property, told The Aspen Times that the high asking price is attributed to the home’s many features, including the four parcels of land, its proximity to downtown Aspen, the private six-acre lake it sits beside, its privacy, 45 parking spaces and the trail system near it that is “built for hiking, cross country skiing, and biking.”
Wellgoth added that the home is on sale earlier this month and there are currently several stakeholders. Despite the high value of the home, she told the outlet that the house may continue to be highly valued by its new owner, particularly due to the restrictions on the size of the home allowed in Pitkin County.
In November 2023, Pitkin County commissioners completed new rules to reduce the size of their largest homes from 15,000 to 9,250 square feet, reported Aspen Daily News. When Little Lake Lodge was built in 1994, a report by Broker Tim Estin at Aspen Snowmass Sotheby found that homes with more than 15,000 square feet of livable space had to be given special reviews.

To date, Aspen’s highest single-family home sales were $108 million in 2024, which was also the highest home sales in Colorado at the time, the Aspen Times reported. This record will remain until Resnick’s property sells.
USA Today has contacted Welgos multiple times, but as of Saturday, August 30th, they have not received a response.
What is the property tax for a $300 million home?
The home list says new homeowners’ estimated annual property tax will be around $131,755.
According to Avant Garde Aspen, a real estate company in the area, Pitkin County’s property tax rate is approximately 0.3%-0.5% of the property valuation. For example, the $10 million home in Aspen has a property tax bill of between $30,000 and $50,000 a year, the company added.
