The former president is among celebrities hanging out with a mystery investor who died by suicide in 2019 after being accused of sex trafficking.
New Epstein photo shows Trump, Clinton and other VIPs in recent drop
House Democrats have released dozens of photos from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate showing Bill Clinton, Woody Allen and other alleged sex traffickers.
Former President Bill Clinton is among the celebrities featured in a trove of fresh images related to the Jeffrey Epstein case released by the US Department of Justice on December 19th.
The Trump administration has released thousands of documents online within a deadline imposed by Congress amid intense bipartisan interest in the sex-trafficking scandal, which has reacted to Trump’s pushback against Epstein.
It has long been known that Clinton was friends with Epstein, the money manager who committed suicide in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, and died at age 66. Clinton, a Democrat who served as president from 1993 to 2001, has repeatedly denied any knowledge of Epstein’s alleged criminal activities.
In the files released Friday, the former president appears in several newly released photos under the heading “Epstein File Transparency Act.” In one set, Mr. Clinton appears in Winston Churchill’s wartime office in London with Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence in federal prison for colluding with Mr. Epstein.
Another photo shows Clinton in a bathtub. In another photo, he poses with a woman whose face is covered. The document released by the Justice Department on December 19 does not explain the background or timing of the photo.
Ms. Clinton sometimes flew on Mr. Epstein’s private planes, and was repeatedly mentioned in Mr. Epstein’s documents. His office did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for comment.
Under the bill signed into law by President Donald Trump, files will be made searchable to give the public easier access to the vast amount of material, including evidence recovered in searches of Epstein’s property and other materials obtained in the Justice Department’s criminal investigation.
But when searching what the Justice Department calls the “Epstein Library,” it turns out that even basic queries like “Trump” and “Clinton” come up blank.
New records show Epstein’s VIP friends
In recent weeks, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have released records from Epstein’s estate that mention other prominent figures, including billionaires Elon Musk and Peter Thiel, MAGA leader Steve Bannon, Prince Andrew and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
The new series of photos also includes actor Kevin Spacey and comedian Chris Tucker in some of the same photos as Clinton. Other photos show the 42nd former president sitting next to The Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger and smiling with singers Michael Jackson and Diana Ross. No one has been accused of wrongdoing in the case.
The House committee also released a photo of Trump from Epstein’s estate earlier this year, as well as emails containing communications between Epstein and former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers during the Clinton administration’s second term.
As a result, Mr. Summers, who served as president of Harvard University, retired from public service and teaching at an Ivy League school.
Both Clinton and Trump have said they distanced themselves from Epstein in the years before he died by suicide in prison in 2019.
Republicans on the oversight committee subpoenaed Mr. Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to give depositions related to the investigation.
David Kendall, the Clintons’ attorney, said in a letter to Congress on Nov. 3 that the public’s demands for transparency regarding Epstein are “understandable and justified,” but that his client’s deposition was unnecessary.
“Former President Clinton and Secretary Clinton welcome due, fact-based oversight of this issue,” Kendall wrote. “For that matter, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have contributed little to that legitimate goal, all of which can easily be submitted on paper.”
On November 14, President Trump also ordered a federal investigation into Epstein’s relationship with Clinton and Summers. An investigation is underway, led by Jay Clayton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
