The owners of Bahama Breeze Restaurant Chain have shown this week that the brand is no longer a priority, and are considering selling the Caribbean-inspired chain for just over a month after closing more than a dozen locations.
Darden Restaurants CEO Ricardo Cardenas said in a revenue call on Friday, June 20th that he will “consider a strategic alternative” for Bahama Breeze.
The company’s portfolio includes Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, Loose’s Chris Steakhouse, and Yardhouse.

“After further reviews, we made the difficult decision that these remaining places and the Bahamas Breeze brands are not a strategic priority for us,” Cardenas said in the phone.
The company suddenly closed its 15 restaurant locations in mid-May, leaving behind what is called the 28 “best performance” restaurants currently in operation. The company has not issued a forecast timeline for either sales or restaurant conversions, and has not disclosed if there are any interested buyers.
Cardenas said the company does not expect the potential sales to have a “significant effect” on its financial results.
The restaurant first opened in the 90s in Florida, where half of the remaining locations remain. According to the chain’s website, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia all have two locations, while Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, South Carolina and Washington have one location.

The next restaurant is closed, as a spokesman for Darden Restaurant confirmed to USA Today.
