WASHINGTON, June 21 (Reuters) – The US is moving its B-2 bomber to Guam’s Pacific Island, two U.S. officials told Reuters on Saturday. The New York Times also reported that the bombers were moving on Saturday.

It was unclear whether the deployment of the bombers was linked to tensions in the Middle East.

The B-2 can be equipped to carry the American 30,000 pound GBU-57 giant weapon intruder designed to destroy targets deep underground. It is a weapon that experts say can use to strike Iran’s nuclear program, including Fold.

Officials speaking about the terms of anonymity refused to disclose further details. One official said positive orders have not yet been given to move the bombers across Guam. They did not say how many B-2 bombers were being moved.

The Department of Defense did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
