A 15-year-old student shot and killed a teacher near San Antonio, Texas, then shot himself to death, according to law enforcement.
According to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred on March 30th at Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Boulevard, Texas.
The teacher was taken to a San Antonio hospital, and the student involved died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kayleigh Zayas told USA TODAY. Zayas said the district has not yet provided law enforcement with an update on the teacher’s condition.
“We know this is incredibly difficult to hear,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement on social media. “What we can say is this situation is under control and there is no ongoing threat to students.”
The middle school was placed on lockdown while the investigation continued, and students were transferred to a nearby middle school, according to an update from the sheriff’s office at 9:25 a.m. local time. USA TODAY reached out to Comal Independent School District for more information.
This is a developing story.
