Argentine President Javier Mairay’s Bureau has denied a series of reports claiming it had approved a new plan that would allow oversight for journalists, politicians and economists.
A report by newspaper LaNación’s journalist Hugo Alconada Mon examined leaked national intelligence plans by the Argentina National Intelligence Secretariat, which outlines the goals of general intelligence reports, such as terrorist prevention and the fight against organized crime, but states that it “outlines goals of general intelligence reports, such as generalization, gray, gray areas, and ambiguity.”

Alconada Mon, one of Argentina’s most well-known investigative reporters and assistant editor of Lanasion, said he confirmed the reliability of the 170-page document in two independent sources.
“It’s written in a vague way so that you can apply it in a correct or disturbing way,” he told CNN.
The CNN could not access the document, nor could the CNN independently validate it.
Alconada Mon said the plan aims to counter potential actions from foreign forces, including Russia’s alleged attempts to influence elections in other countries.
“So, as a sovereign state, we must ensure that other foreign powers don’t try this, and in this case the objective is valid. But it could actually refer to an analyst, a politician, a journalist, or someone else who might offer their opinions.
The President’s Office rejected the concept by saying in a statement: “This is the first government in decades that have made a political decision not to use sides to avoid persecuting enemies, journalists and political enemies,” he said.
