USA TODAY and Plant-A partner to recognize outstanding moving companies

America’s Best Moving Companies 2026 recognizes the best moving companies in each state. The initial review considered more than 36,000 moving companies, followed by detailed evaluations of more than 3,700 moving companies operating in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

This methodology combines a national survey of more than 17,000 U.S. customers with more than 2 million online customer reviews to evaluate moving companies on eight unique dimensions of customer satisfaction.

Participants provided overall recommendations for moving companies and provided detailed ratings on six key factors of satisfaction, including care of belongings, punctuality and timeliness, and overall customer satisfaction.

The survey results were combined with analysis of more than 2 million online customer reviews and used a proprietary large-scale language model (LLM) to identify and quantify recency-weighted sentiment across six categorical factors to create an overall customer satisfaction score.

Additionally, the Plant-A Insights research team worked with USA TODAY’s editorial team to confirm the accuracy of the findings. Adjustments were made only when discrepancies were identified by subject matter experts and supported by independent data.

Using a proprietary scoring model, we calculated an overall score for each moving company, incorporating weighted scores across target groups, survey categories, and desk research metrics. The moving company with the highest score in each state was recognized as the 2026 Best Moving Company in America.

Excluding a company from this ranking is not intended to negatively impact its quality or performance.
