AAA expects a busy anniversary weekend for travel
AAA officials expect more than 45 million people will travel at least 50 miles from their homes on the next Memorial Day weekend.

That’s because most national banks and the US Postal Service will be closed on Monday, May 26th in compliance with federal public holidays.
According to the U.S. Veterans Affairs Bureau, the anniversary is “annual day of a nation that laments and respects the men and women of service that have passed away.” Originally known as “decoration day,” the holiday date dates back to the 1860s and commemorates those who died while serving in the US military.
Here are some things you need to know about banks, post offices, transportation services, and whether they will be open on their 2025 anniversary.

Anniversaries always fall on the last Monday of May. This year, the anniversary is May 26th.

According to the agency’s website, Memorial Day is a USPS holiday. This means that no emails will be delivered and the post office will be closed on May 26th due to retail transactions.

Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citibank and JP Morgan Chase have confirmed that branches will be closed on Memorial Day at USA Today.
As it is a federal holiday, branches of other banks such as Capital One, PNC and Truist will also be closed on May 26th. Consumers should check with their local bank branch on certain holidays.
