Listeria outbreaks cause at least 10 people to get sick in all of us
At least 10 people in the US have become ill from the outbreak of Listeria, which is linked to ready-to-eat foods, and producers are voluntarily recalling some of the products.

Costco shoppers are encouraged to make sure they buy a recall.
Popular retailers have flagged almost 12 recall items in recent months from a variety of manufacturers.
Products range from power banks to window air conditioners, some of which are recommended to immediately discontinue use.
Several items were sold through Costco Next. This is a program that allows shoppers to purchase items directly from the brand at Costco prices. The others were sold at Costco.

What products have you recalled recently?
Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) – Model A1257 (Costco Next): Recall Notifications indicate “potential issues involving lithium-ion battery cells from a single vendor.” While not going into details, Anker’s website states that consumers should “quickly stop using their devices.”
Anker PowerCore 10000 Power Bank Model A1263 (Costco Next): According to recall notifications, the power bank will overheat, pose a potential fire risk. The Anker website states that consumers should “stop using the product immediately.”
Danby 8K U-shaped window air conditioner: According to the recall notification, the unit may not drain water quickly enough, leading to mold, and encourages consumers to “stop use immediately.” The Consumer Product Safety Commission states that these air conditioners include Midea, Comfort Aire, Danby, Frigidaire, Insignia, Keystone, LBG Products, Mr. It points out that it was in various retailers under different brands, including Cool, Perfect Aire and Sea Breeze.
Midea U-Shape Window AC (Item # ‘S 1572673, 1657921, 1677429, 1768985, 2677450, and 2677429): Recall Notices state that pooled water in the unit can lead to mold.
Michelin Agilis CrossClime C-Metric Tyres Size 185/60R15C: According to the recall notice, the tires are unable to meet federal safety standards for tire endurance and “a clump of tread rubber may be detached from the shoulder block.”
Bridgestone Blizzak 6 Tire Size 235/40R19: According to the recall notice, these tires lack the Authority of Transportation Certification Seal, and while complying with performance requirements, DOT has discovered that unsealed tires can be used improperly, increasing the risk of crashes.
BowFlex Adjustable Dumbbells: Recall Notifications cite reports of weight plates that have been removed from the handle during use, pose a risk of impact. Consumers are encouraged to “stop using them immediately.”
Topo Chico Mineral Water Glass 18PK – Select Lot Code – Select locations in Texas and Louisiana: Recall Notices say that water can be contaminated with naturally occurring Pseudomonas in water sources like mineral water, and can have slight health effects on people with weak immune systems.
Sandwiches and Salads (multiple items) Fresh and ready food only with locations in AZ, California, NV, WA Business Center: According to the recall notice, selection items used by May 11 may be contaminated with Listeria monosite egen and should not be consumed. This organism can cause serious and potentially fatal infections to young children, “frail or elderly people” or others with weak immune systems. It can also lead to miscarriage and stillbirth.
Igloo 90 QT Flip & Toe Rolling Cooler: According to the recall notification, there is a risk that the tow handle will pinch the consumer’s fingertips against the cooler, leading to “the risk of fingertip cutting and crushing.” Consumers are urged to “stop using the cooler immediately.”
Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker + Air Fryer: The recall notification cites reports that the pressure cooker lid opens while being pressurized, leading to severe burns. Consumers are advised not to use the pressure control feature until they have obtained a replacement lid.

To find the latest Costco recalls, visit the Product Recalls section of the website. Past recalls have also been archived online.
Consumers can check other recalls across retailers and manufacturers on the U.S. Consumers’ Product Safety Commission, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Agriculture and Food Safety Inspection Office, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration websites. These sites have a searchable database. CPSC, FDA, and USDA list recalls in reverse time series.
USA Today also maintains a database of recalled items.
How much do I need to go back at Costco?
Costco accepts most returns without a time limit, with a few exceptions.
- The electronics have a 90-day return window.
- Tobacco and alcohol may not be returned if it is against the law.
- Airlines and live performance event items, ticket items, precious metals, shop cards, and gift cards are not returned.
- Diamonds over 1.00 carats require all original documents for return and are subject to certification.
- Expectations for tires, batteries and other products with limited life expectancy may have limited product-specific warranty.
- Custom products created by ordering from special order kiosks and custom installed programs cannot be returned or refunded “except for warranty repairs/replacements due to failure to meet specifications.”
Recalls are separate from standard returns. Consumers should review the recall notification for the next step for a particular item.
