Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones faced another set-off in court as a Texas District Judge ruled that his Infowars platform could be sold again. The decision follows a 2024 ruling that ceased previous sales due to concerns over the auction process.

Judge Maya Guerra Gamble ruled on Wednesday, August 13th that Infowars’ parent company, the Free Speech System, will be put into the hands of court-appointed recipients, and that the company’s assets will be used to pay a legal decision of $1.3 billion.

In 2022, the court ruled that Jones had slandered the family in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting. He repeatedly made false claims that the massacre was a “hoax” staged as part of a government conspiracy to confiscate guns from Americans.

Gambling orders pave the way for onions to try again to buy Info and its assets.

In December 2024, the satirical news site initially won an Infowars court-ordered auction, but a US bankruptcy judge blocked the sale and said the bankruptcy auction did not bring about the best possible bid.

Reuters and Jeanine Santucci of USA Today contributed to this report.
