According to a police report obtained by USA Today Sports, Sha’carri Richardson was arrested after alleged incidents at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Richardson was arrested Sunday for domestic violence, according to the report.
Richardson and his male companions were involved in the verbal altercation when they left the airport through security, the police report said. According to the Seattle Police Department, Richardson allegedly pushed the man and he fell into a nearby column.
According to the report, police saw security footage from the airport, but the video reportedly showed the man trying to leave Richardson, but she continued to bump into him. Police also say Richardson threw headphones at the man.
Richardson was booked Sunday at the Southern Corrections Group in Des Moines, Washington, and was released Monday, prison records show.
“We are aware of this report and have no comments at this time,” Athletics told USA Today Sports.
Richardson ran 11.07 and finished second in the heat in the 100 metres, reaching Friday’s semi-finals at the US track and field championships. Richardson later retreated from the 100 semi-finals and will not run even at 200.
The US Championships will serve as a qualifying tournament for the World Championships. Richardson has goodbye to 100 people at this year’s World Championships, as she is the defending champion.
Richardson won a silver medal in 100 at the 2024 Parisiolmème. She was also part of the 4×100 relay team that won the Team USA gold medal.
Richardson is one of the most famous American track and field athletes. She won the 100m at the 2020 Olympic trial, but was later suspended due to a positive marijuana test and did not compete at the Tokyo Olympics.
