President Trump fires key campaign committee members
President Donald Trump fired two of the three members of the Federal Election Assistance Commission, eliminating the commission’s ability to help local election officials prepare for the 2026 midterm elections. Two committee members chosen by Congressional Democrats were fired Thursday. The vice speaker, chosen by Congressional Republicans, resigned on June 9th. “These firings leave the agency without leadership and unable to fulfill its primary responsibilities,” said Michael Waldman of New York University School of Law.
