Bed Bath & Beyond is expanding its store footprint by opening two stores in Texas, but in a different format.
The company announced on June 18 that it will open 22 new combined Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store stores across the country, including in Austin and Houston, Texas..
This store format brings together household essentials, storage and organization, custom space, and home services under one roof.
“This is not a retail experiment. This is the beginning of an entirely new model for home retailing,” Amy Sullivan, president of Bed Bath & Beyond, said in a statement. “We’re bringing together two brands that our customers already know and trust and making them even stronger. The same organizational expertise that our customers have always loved from The Container Store is now alongside the breadth, value and inspiration of Bed Bath & Beyond.”
The new store comes after Bed Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023 and closed its brick-and-mortar stores, and The Container Store entered into a partnership to offer Bed Bath & Beyond products in its stores in 2024.
Also in 2023, Overstock.com purchased the brand’s intellectual property and launched a new website and mobile app. Then, in 2025, Bed Bath & Beyond acquired the former Kirkland brand House Collective, and some Kirkland stores became Bed Bath & Beyond stores.
The company also said it will expand Beyond Home Services to include cabinetry, flooring and installation, allowing customers to handle projects from design to installation in one place.
