Katy Perry says Justin Trudeau is ‘the love of my life’ at Tribeca
Katy Perry gushed about her partner Justin Trudeau at the Tribeca Film Festival, calling him the love of her life.
Sen. Ted Cruz criticized former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, suggesting his partner Katy Perry is out of step with him.
“There’s an old saying, ‘above the coverage,’ and I think Justin has done that,” Justin told TMZ on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, June 16, adding that he’s also in the same “camp” as Heidi Cruz, his wife of 25 years.
Asked what Trudeau’s romance with the “Dark Horse” singer meant for the relationship between the United States and Canada, the lawmaker quipped: “Well, objectively speaking, this is certainly a testament to the relationship between the United States and Canada.”
Perry, 41, and Trudeau, 54, were first rumored to be dating in July last year, about a month after her split from actor Orlando Bloom. The two confirmed their relationship in December and shared a collection of photos and videos from their time in Tokyo during their Life Times tour.which also includes snaps of his travels with the former leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.

Mr. Perry acknowledged his feelings for Mr. Trudeau during a panel discussion following the screening of his new concert film “Lifetimes” at the Tribeca Festival.
“After 91 shows, I feel like I’m a more grounded person in many aspects of my life. I love it so much,” Perry told host Thomas Mir. “I met the love of my life, and that gave me a lot of peace of mind.”
she elaborated. “I’m like a rainbow kite. I fly super high…and sometimes I need to be anchored. So with that anchoring, I feel really complete now.”
Perry and Bloom ended their engagement in June 2025 after nine years of dating. The two have a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy.
Prime Minister Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire announced their divorce in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage and have three children. The politician served as Canada’s prime minister for 10 years starting in 2015, but resigned in January under political pressure.
