Justice Department announces release of 3 million Epstein file pages
The Justice Department announced it has released 3 million redacted pages of Epstein’s files.
WASHINGTON — Billionaire technology entrepreneur Elon Musk had multiple conversations with Jeffrey Epstein about visiting the suspected sex trafficker on his private island, according to emails released by the Justice Department.
Among the 3 million pages of documents released by the Justice Department on January 30 are email exchanges between Mr. Musk and Mr. Epstein in 2012 and 2013 about plans for the CEO and founder of SpaceX and Tesla to visit Mr. Epstein’s 70-acre Little St. James Island in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
On November 24, 2012, Mr. Epstein wrote to Mr. Musk, “How many people will be taking the helicopter to the island?”
“Probably just Talulah and I. What day and night will be the wildest party on our island?” Musk responded the next day, November 25, 2012.
In the wake of Congress passing the Epstein File Transparency Act in November, the Justice Department’s latest release of files from the Epstein investigation reveals more extensive communications between Mr. Musk and Mr. Epstein than previously known.
In 2013, the two exchanged emails about Musk visiting Epstein’s island while on vacation and about Musk’s plans to be near the Caribbean island of Saint-Barthelemy.
“I’m planning on staying in the BVI/St. Barts area over the holidays. Is there a good time to visit?” Musk wrote in an email to Epstein on December 13, 2013.
Mr. Epstein responded via email on December 15, 2013: “Anytime between the 1st and the 8th. Listen if you’d like. I always have space for you.”
After exchanging potential dates, Musk wrote in a December 25, 2013 email: “Actually, we can fly back early on the 3rd. We’ll be in St. Barts. When on the 2nd should we head to your island?”
It is unclear whether Mr. Musk traveled. Representatives for Mr. Musk did not respond to requests for comment.
Musk has denied ever visiting Epstein’s island. In a 2019 interview with Vanity Fair after Epstein’s arrest, Musk said, “He tried many times to invite me to visit his island, but I said no.”
Epstein owned two islands in the U.S. Virgin Islands: Little St. James and Great St. James. Much of Epstein’s trafficking of underage girls is said to have taken place at his compound in Little St. James. The two islands were purchased by developers in 2023, years after Epstein died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
