Pro wrestling legend Mick Foley says he is severing ties with World Wrestling Entertainment because of the company’s support for Donald Trump, citing the president’s “incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death” as the “last straw.”
Foley said in an Instagram post that he doesn’t want to represent “a company that coddles a seemingly inconsiderate man who is pushing our country toward tyranny.”
As a result, Foley has stated that he no longer intends to represent or appear in WWE as long as President Trump remains in office.
Disgraced WWE co-founder Vince McMahon is known as a longtime friend of President Trump, but is no longer directly affiliated with WWE. McMahon’s wife, Linda, currently serves as President Trump’s secretary of education. And their son-in-law, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, is a member of the President’s “Fitness Council.”
Foley, who also wrestled under the aliases Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, the same class as Trump.
