Why are food recalls increasing?
E. coli, metals and even dead bats have been found in the recalled foods. In fact, food recalls are on the rise. But it could actually be a good sign. Here’s why:

More than 60,000 pounds of fully cooked, breaded chicken has been recalled due to allergen concerns, according to a notice from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Georgia-based Susannah’s Kitchen has initiated a recall after a labeling error resulted in important allergen information not being included on the packaging of some of its chicken products. According to a Dec. 12 FSIS notice, the recalled products contain soybeans that are not listed on the product label.
The FSIS notice said the chicken was distributed to restaurants across the country. As of December 12, there have been no injuries or illnesses related to the recall.
What chicken products are being recalled?
The affected 8-piece bone-in breaded chicken portions were manufactured on October 16, 2025 and have the USDA inspection mark and establishment number “P-1380” printed on the side of the package.
- A case of 4 18 lb. fully cooked breaded chicken portions. The case code “P-1380 126237 B30851 23:11 K04” is printed on the side of the package.
What to do with recalled chicken
FSIS warned restaurants not to serve affected products and to throw them away. If you believe you may have become ill after eating affected chicken, officials recommend contacting your doctor.
