Alphabet GOOGL.O unit Waymo has recalled 3,067 of its vehicles in the United States due to a software issue fixed in an update, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced Thursday.

The company announced that software recalling certain vehicles equipped with fifth-generation automated driving systems (ADS) was activated, causing the vehicle to overtake a stopped school bus, increasing the risk of an accident, regulators said.

Waymo updated the software and all affected vehicles were repaired by Nov. 17, NHTSA said.

Waymo announced last week that it would recall its self-driving cars after Texas authorities said the cars had illegally passed school buses at least 19 times since the start of the school year.

Waymo said at the time that the reason self-driving cars initially slowed or stopped and then moved forward for the school bus was due to a software issue, adding that the company would continue to track and implement further updates as needed.

NHTSA, which began investigating Waymo vehicles in October, asked the self-driving car company to respond to questions about the Texas incident by January 20.
