In-N-Out plans to open a restaurant in Tennessee before opening its headquarters there, USA TODAY has confirmed.
In-N-Out said in a statement that it will open stores in Middle Tennessee “by the end of this year.” The California burger executive said he expects locations in Lebanon, Antioch and Murfreesboro to open by the end of 2025, with the Franklin restaurant opening early next year.
The company did not disclose a specific opening date.
Double Double, once admired by the late food mogul Anthony Bourdain, has expanded beyond its California roots in recent years, opening stores in Colorado, Texas and Idaho.
This is where In-N-Out will open its next store.
In-N-Out stores opening soon
In-N-Out’s website lists five stores as “coming soon.” They are located at:
- Antioch, Tennessee: 4130 William Turner Parkway
- Bell, California: 6415 Atlantic Avenue
- lebanon, tennessee: 915 South Hartman Drive
- Franklin, Tennessee: 1951 Double Double Drive
- Murfreesboro, Tennessee: 2508 Medical Center Parkway
The Bell, California, store is expected to open in early 2026, the company said.
In-N-Out adds headquarters in Tennessee, but leaves California behind
In-N-Out announced in February that many of its California corporate employees would be moving from Irvine, Orange County, to offices in Baldwin Park, a Los Angeles suburb where the company was founded in 1948. The company had been located in the Irvine office since 1994.
The move to the Baldwin Park office, about 40 miles northwest of the company’s Irvine offices and one mile from the restaurant first opened by Harry and Esther Snyder, is expected to be completed by the end of 2029.
After the Irvine office closes, employees will be based in either the Baldwin Park office or the Tennessee office, the company said. The company said at the time that the Nashville-area office was on track to open in 2026.
Snyder downplays East Coast expansion
In-N-Out CEO Lynsi Snyder appeared on the podcast “Relatable” on July 18, pointing to logistical challenges and downplaying the possibility of further East Coast expansion.
“You can go from a warehouse in Texas to Tennessee. We have a warehouse, but we don’t produce our own meat there, so we can ship it from Texas,” Snyder said.
The company operates the majority of its stores in California, and Snyder added that the majority of its stores will continue to be there.
“The state of Florida is begging us and we’re still saying no,” Snyder said. “The East Coast states, we’re still saying no.”
The company previously announced its intention to open a store in New Mexico by 2027.
