Jaguar Land Rover CyberTack disrupts the supply chain
A crippling cyberattack has caused Jaguar Land Rover to halt production for a long time, creating a cascade effect across its supplier network.

- Jaguar Land Rover is manufactured that shutters unstable cyber attacks.
- Experts say the Jaguar Land Rover is well-supplied with new vehicles, but replacement parts can be a problem.
Jaguar Land Rover fans are unlikely to be pushed to the company’s competitor’s shopping after last month’s disruptive cyber attack, but customers looking for replacement parts for luxury vehicles could be compressed in the coming months.
The Jaguar Land Rover owners could feel a pinch from the issues with the purse service.
The iconic British company owned by Indian Tata Motors has received some support and is trying to solve the problem, but the situation is not expected to be resolved anytime soon.
How extensive was the cyber attack?
It’s a wide range of things to stop manufacturing and settle it gently. On September 2, the company reported that it had “aggressively” shut down the system. On Monday, September 29, the company announced that “some sections of its manufacturing operations will resume in the coming days.”
Erin Keating, executive analyst at Cox Automotive, said the attack hit the automaker’s suppliers particularly hard. This is one reason the UK government moved to reinforce its supply chain with a $2 billion loan guarantee, according to Reuters.
Cyberattacks are not new in the automotive industry, and Jaguar Land Rover is of course a casualty, making it not unique among automakers.
Last year, a cyberattack on Chicago-based CDK Global forced the company to overthrow car dealership operations across the country and shift it to paper records.
Last month, Stellantis, the maker of Jeep, Lamb, Chrysler, Dodge and Fiat, admitted to a violation of customer data. This highlights how basic contact information has been included, but it highlights how extensive this threat has become.
“We are in a world where cyberattacks are another potential problem in manufacturing. It was an isolated incident, but no one should expect JLR to be their final target,” says Sam Fiorani, Vice President of Global Vehicle Forecasting for Vendors Solutions.
How does cyberattacks affect buyers?
Experts say that finding a new car in the lot should not be an issue now, as Jaguar Land Rover has enough stock in the US. Keating pointed out that both Jaguar and Land Rover brands have a supply of new vehicles for over 100 days (over 200 for Jaguar).
Keating said that for those who want to order a new car to get the right colour for their new car, it is likely to be longer than not.
Fiorani, like other foreign automakers, had stockpiled stock and provided a bit of cushion ahead of tariffs, but “a month of lost production will be digging into that supply, affecting sales later this year.”
Is there a problem with the dealer?
The National Automobile Dealers Association said in a statement on Wednesday, October 1st that dealers are undoubtedly affected.
“The recent cyberattacks on Jaguar Land Rover have had a major impact on dealer operations, bringing disruptions to vehicle registration, parts procurement and repair services as some systems remain offline. Despite these challenges, dealers are operating very enthusiastically to meet the needs of their customers.
What does it mean to maintain a vehicle?
According to Fiorani, service issues are expected and cost the consumer.
“Customers can see extended stays in-store for Land Rover and Jaguar by the end of 2025 due to a lack of parts. A shortage of parts always leads to increased costs as everyone is in a hurry to get what’s available to everyone,” Fiorani said. “Right-day maintenance, which usually requires product parts such as windshield wipers and oil filters, may not have much impact.”
Will used sales be affected?
The chances are low.
“The new Jaguar and Land Rover buyers are a very different group than what they bought, and instead of waiting for a new defender or Range Rover, it’s rare for future new buyers to step into used lots,” Fiorani said.
Most of the difference is in income levels. According to Keating, customers who buy new vehicles from the company typically earn more than $200,000 a year.
She said the average listed price for the Jaguar is $75,000 and the new Land Rover is $108,000.
Jaguar Land Rover models “have their own unique charm,” so these customers also tend to be more brand loyal. Certainly, buyers may visit BMW or Mercedes-Benz dealers, but these buyers are overwhelmingly waiting for a Land Rover or Pony.
