The Wendy’s officially took part in the Chicken Tender Contest.
Currently available on the menu of fast food chains: 3-piece order, 4-piece order, 2 bids (prices vary by location): Your order comes with two new, improved choices of sauces: Wendy’s signature, sweet chili, Scochin hot, creamy ranch, honey barbecue and honey mustard. (Children’s meals come with one sauce. Additional sauce dip cups are available on any order for a small charge.)
The new dish, which is affectionately called “Wendy’s Tendes” on the company’s social media, is “a light, crispy, flavorful panding made using the finest quality ingredients, including 100% white meat,” Wendy’s interim CEO Kennesku said during a second quarter revenue call on August 8.
Regarding the “modernized and improved” sauce lineup, Cook said, “Our bids and sauces are amazing and I’m sure our customers love them too.”
Lindsay Radkoski, Chief Marketing Director at Wendy’s Company, told us what consumers want in their chicken bids. “With six bold new sauces, fans can dip, dunk and customize the tilt with each bite!”
Wendy’s tender chicken entry comes months after competitor McDonald’s expanded his chicken product with a Macrispie strip, which selected a sauce containing cream chili dip.
The fast food giant has escalated the chicken menu war over chicken wraps in recent months, including McDonald’s snack wraps matching Popeye, Sonic and Taco Bell. Wendy’s also have their own chicken wrap.
