Officials were working to establish a clear motive for the killing of Charlie Kirk, the latest act of national political violence, as federal officials faced scrutiny over the investigation and well-known conservative activists paid tribute to commemorate and vigils.

Utah Republican Gov. Spencer Cox told ABC News “this week” that he was allegedly suspected of Tyler Robinson, 22.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10th. The killings promoted the fear of a spike in political violence and the constant diading disparity between the left and right.

Robinson was taken into custody after a two-day manhunt after showing his family that he was the attacker. Officials say he is tied to crime.

Cox said in several television appearances that Robinson was “radical,” and that he was completely different to his family and spent a lot of time online after dropping out of college. The governor added that while Robinson lived with a roommate who was transitioning from man to woman, people warned him from jump to conclusions as investigators were still working to stitch together what led to the fatal shooting.

Meanwhile, Kirk’s respect was held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., where dozens of Trump administration officials and Congress gathered to remind us of the founder of Turning Point USA. It was scheduled to continue this week as Vice President JD Vance is planning to host Kirk’s podcasts.

FBI director Kash Patel said the DNA of the driver and towel near the scene of the shooting that killed Charlie Kirk matched the suspect.

Patel announced it on Monday, September 15th, in Fox and Friends.

FBI director Kash Patel will appear on members of Congress this week as he faces criticism for his investigation into Kirk’s assassination investigation.

Patel may face questions about his leadership at the Congressional Surveillance hearings on Tuesday, September 16th and Wednesday, September 17th. Much of the FBI’s criticism is centered on information released shortly after the shooting.

Hours after the murder, Patel takes him to X and declares that the “subject” had been in custody. However, the suspicious shooter remained large and was not taken into custody until members of his family looked back at him.

President Donald Trump expressed his support for Patel over the weekend, telling Fox News, “I am extremely proud of the FBI. Kash and everyone else… did a great job.”

Vice President JD Vance said he will host “The Charlie Kirk Show” on Monday, September 15th as a tribute to his friends and a close political alliance.

“I have the honor of having the Charlie Kirk Show tomorrow. I’m honoring my friends, so join me,” Vance said in X.

Kirk defended Vance as he will become Trump’s running mate ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Last week after the assassination, Vance and his wife, Usha, met with Kirk’s family in Salt Lake City, Utah, and flew with them in Air Force 2 as Kirk’s cas was taken home to Arizona.

Cox said while talking about NBC’s “Meet the Press,” that Robinson had “left ideology” and at one point was “radical.”

The governor said Robinson was not cooperative, but investigators spoke to his family and his roommates. Cox said his roommate “don’t know that this is happening,” which has helped him investigate so far. When asked whether Robinson’s partner was linked to a potential motivation, Cox expressed his caution.

“We’re trying to understand that. Everyone wants to know exactly why and point their fingers. And I fully understand that, too. I will,” he said on CNN’s “Status of Union.” “I just want to be careful because I haven’t read all of the interview transcripts.”

Cox did not elaborate on Robinson’s political views in detail, but provided more information about when Robinson dropped out of college and when he was arrested in connection with the horrifying murder.

The governor said Robinson spent much of his time playing video games online and interacting with people through message boards. He said the suspect was engaged in a “deep, dark internet.”
