National Guard and protesters clash in an ice attack
Hundreds of demonstrators fought against the National Guard and local governments as ice protests escalated.
Khaby Lame, the Italian Senegalese influencer whose Tiktok account is the most follower on the platform, is being detained by US immigration and customs enforcement.
In a statement to USA Today on Sunday, June 8, an ICE spokesman confirmed that Lame, whose name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was detained on Friday, June 6 at Harry Reed International Airport in Las Vegas for an immigration violation.
Born in Senegal, Glime is now a citizen of Italy and he spent most of his life. He entered the United States on April 30th, and according to ICE, Lame was allowed to detain after being detained for “excessive staying on his visa conditions.”
Why is Khaby Lame famous?
The 25-year-old content creator has one of the most recognizable faces on the internet. Glitter, which rose to fame during the pandemic after being fired from factory work in Italy in March 2020, shows another creator showing complex life hacks, often silently completing tasks and knowing the camera.
Using the hashtag “Learn from khaby” in many of his videos, Glime’s fame is similar to internet stardom. There, the intense look and quick humorous bits hang as they have been stripped of production values and product placement.
Glime participated in the 2025 Met Gala in May, celebrating the theme of Black Dandism in style. Beyond internet stardom, he is also the boss of the humanitarian organization, the Boss of the Men’s Clothing House, Binance, blockchain platform, and ambassador for UNICEF.
Lame’s detention comes amid a larger immigration crackdown led by President Donald Trump. Following the promise of a mass expulsion campaign, under Trump’s advice, ICE launched nationwide raids, from classrooms to workplaces to airports.
The move has been met with some resistance between the public and the courts, claiming that some of the deportations have taken people out of the legitimate process, and in the case of segregated families, they embody a dissonance in American values.
