Lawmakers reacted to a recent closed-door meeting on Venezuelan oil in which Marco Rubio presented three plans.
Jan 7 (Reuters) – Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said late on Wednesday that 100 people had been killed in the U.S. attack that ousted President Nicolás Maduro from power on Saturday.
The city of Caracas had not previously disclosed the death toll, but the military posted a list of the names of 23 people killed. Venezuelan officials said most of Maduro’s security forces were killed “in cold blood,” and Cuba announced that 32 military and intelligence personnel stationed in Venezuela had been killed.
Mr. Maduro’s wife, Cilia Flores, who was being held with Mr. Maduro, sustained a head injury during the U.S. raid, and Mr. Maduro sustained a leg injury, Mr. Cabello said.
Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez, who Cabello praised as “courageous” on his weekly show on state television, on Tuesday declared a week of remembrance for military personnel killed in the attack.
